Inner world at the surface -

As a kid Tessa van den Eeden (1991, Eindhoven) explored many different art forms. Dancing, singing, fashion, writing, theatre and drawing. Everything to express her deep emotions. All combined in her performances, shows and artworks from today.

Her work uncovers the things we try to hide. Addiction, insecurity, self-doubt, fear of failure or a desperate need for attention. She started to be interested in those theme's when she recognized her own mental health issues and wanted to explore how to co-exist with the world and people around you, while being overwhelmed with your own inner world.

'From a young age I struggled with my mental health. I had a lot of layered emotions that kept me occupied. Trying to keep them inside and not bother others. Because often when you try to explain a dreamlike, foggy, surrealistic experience, it felt like I was  moving further away for connection with others. - My art says what I cant find the words for.'

In her work she explores her fears, shame and desires. Trying not to decide whether something is good or bad, but only shape and explore them. It's a challenge.

"I try to create something from the parts I dislike or fear about myself. I hope to create something that will make me - and hopefully others - a little more willing to explore and embrace these parts rather than suppress or judge them.

Tessa van den Eeden is currently based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
